Caffeine Effects...

Last nite we ended up at Vivo city to meet our high school friends (which my friend called old folks as we known each others since kindergarten). After dinner, we were at Starbucks and i ordered ice Americano as usual.

At nite, i was rolling on my bed and didn't get to deep sleep till 3:30 am. Part of it was also because i was waiting for my bro as he was coming from KL and didn't reach here till 2:30am. He was stuck at checkpoint for 2 hours (it's due to the malay's new year celebration where people are traveling back and forth b/w the two countries).

Caffeine (eg. black coffee, frap, mountain dew) doesn't really have effect on me regardless on how much i drank. Usually, only to certain degrees and time i will feel coffee is useful, however i still slept well at nite regardless on the timing i consumed it.

It's weird, the body just reacted differently....

Well, to certain degree where i need caffeine is when i'm really tired and i need it to keep awake. There was once where we had stayed up for the past few nite in around thanksgiving and we drove down to Chicago. We didn't sleep once we arrived Chicago and staying up early to queue for thanksgiving sale. Thus, by the time we reached downtown to Neiman Marcus, I got myself double shot espresso. Surprisingly, it kept me alert for the whole day and i felt energetic. I was the one driving the whole day and nite for 13 hours.

Another time is after lunch time, i would grab a cup to keep me alerted when i'm really sleepy.

Generally, I am not a coffee addicted but a juice addicted. Generally, i would drink 1-2 juice per day in different flavors. Occassionally, i will drink a coffee and i would just be fine without having one in my day. Indeed, my day must start with orange juice or else i would feel sick. Once i reached office, i opted for green tea.

Tae-chan's visit 2

Today, i got off early to meet Tae-chan at Chinatown and brought her along to explore. Even though it's a short stay, she did enjoy it. She mention how nice sgans are. She said compared to TW and Korea, it's quite different. She said when she went to Korea, people are so rude and nasty and the hospitality was quite bad. She could sense that they hate Japanese.

We're supposed to eat chicken rice at Boon Tong Kee but at the end there wasn't enough time, so we ended up having dinner at the street market in Chinatown. Afterwards, we went to eat durians.

According to her it's the highlight of the trip. She lovedddddd it. She said she had heard a lot of negative reviews and opinions from the others that it's so stinky so she would like to try it. I'm so glad that she loved it coz not a lot of people love to eat durian some can't even endure the smell. If she dislike it, i have to end up gobble durian by my own coz Mon is having a sore throat.

But i guess for Japanese, if they can eat nato, they can eat durian as well. ckckck.....

Well, during our gathering on sunday, we discussed that most of the times, people tend to dislike durian due to its stinky smell. Well in fact it did smell stinky when you're not eating it. Generally, 90% will like durian once they tasted it, the smell just turn good heheheeh.....

We did discuss why people still dislike durian after they tasted it, it was due to the durian they ate was not good enough. How to consider good? in my point of view, it really caters to your own taste. Myself prefer indonesian durians over Thailand ones.

We managed to catch up a bit and afterwards, i accompany back to hotel before she headed to airport.

Since the ticket from NRT-SIN is only about $300 via SIA, so we ask her to visit more often and the next time she could stay at my place instead of hotel.

She has promised she will come again next year. So see ya next year...

Taeko's

This year, i have a lot of friends visited especially from MSU. Maybe it's a good year for traveling or SG Tourism just did their job so well ^^

Earlier, Elvi and Adi were in town followed by Angie's after her SEA tour. Last week was Rumi. This week is an unexpected visit from Tae-chan ^^

It's been long time since we last met, i think it was 5 years ago, well she hasn't changed much. It's just great to see her again. She was still as gentle and nice as she used to be. Last nite, i met her and Tomoya for dinner. She loves spicy food and we couldn't get a table at Strait Kitchen, thus we ended up at Garuda @ Cairnhill (I prefer Garuda @ Vivo city). Well, we catched up a lot and revived on our olden days @ MSU.

It was so sweet of her that she even bought me a gift. I was quite stunned....

Today, we went for chili crab lunch @ Jumbo - Riverside point and i found the food was not bad. it's my first time at Riverside Point Jumbo. Mon also joined us for lunch as well. After lunch, Taeko and Tomoya headed to Sentosa.

Mon and myself spent time @ Central Mall Starbucks to catch up. We had a long chit chat. It's been so long since we had this moment after we graduated. It's just remind me of our days @ MSU. The errands we did together during u-days were just amazing. We had marathon of movies, cookings, studying, gossiping, and etc. I still remember how hard to wake her up especially on weekends. Feels like returning to college days.... how i wish time could turn back...

an unexpected gift

Last week, during my friend visit, she brought an unexpected gift which is a watch from Swatch. I was quite surprise and thankful of it.

The theme of the watch is winter snow. The idea behind it was because that i am afraid of sun and dislike the hot weather. yet i still stay in sg, the tropical country. what am i doing here... by wearing the watch will remind me of winter, hopefully it will cool me down and prevent me to be melted. She just know me so well. How thoughtful.....

I like the watch very much as i have been thinking of getting a new watch just for fun. I have a habit of collecting swatch watches and i just love it very much. With its good quality and affordable price, it is very much worthed.

The amazing part is i haven't been buying any original swatch for so long. the last plastic watch i had was back in my 21st b-day and my last purchase of watch from swatch was back in end of 2005 for my brother which is an irony type. i don't even know that the design of the case has actually changed. It caters to protect the watch better compared to the previous case.

Thanks rumi for such a thoughtful gift. Even though i have a lot of them, i will still cherish this as it has such a meaningful idea behind it.
