Trick or treats ?!?

Well, Halloween is a total reverse of Chinese Ghost Festival where you are encouraged to limited excursion means to stay home. As all the ghosts are wandering around on the streets.

Halloween in SG is purely on clubbing and another drinking session. If you are not a clubbers nor fond of drinking, basically it is just another regular day. Despite the idea of Halloween in the states where aside to party, we practice trick or treats ?!?! visit to haunted house and carving pumpkins... ^.^

Yeah, Halloween Day is my birthday .... so my gangs always said that i'm a ghost ckckck.....

The week before the birthday was welcomed with visiting of my college buddies, Lili and Sherry. We had a great weekend gathering after our graduation back in 2003. Finally, i'm able to forego all the disputes happened among us. We rekindled our friendship and cherish more as we get older, quality time is what we are pursuing. I was also happy for Sherry on her engagement news and her health is actually getting better. The day before their departure, 30th Oct, we were having lunch at Palm Beach for Chilli Crab and dinner at Peach garden

My department mates celebrated with a treat of lunch @ Billy Bombers w/ Lychee Martini cake.
For dinner, I celebrated w/ my college buddies Mon and Nad @ Shimbashi Soba.

On Friday, my foodie gangs celebrated it @ La Forketta @ Dempsey

The dinner is part of our Friday outings in exploring new places, however the restaurant is below our expectations. The food presentation is nice. The appetizer is good but the main dishes is only okay. The restaurant ambience is quite nice. If craving for Italian, i still prefer Pasta Brava where is brings the authentic flavor. I rated ***/5 stars.

Indeed it's still another great outing we enjoyed!

Happy Halloween and wish for more pumpkins next year. ^.^ I'll aim for pumpkin soup and cake next year ckckck....

Friday Gourmet outings & JT farewell

As Saturday is my teammate, Mrs. World's birthday. Thus, we were celebrating her b-day during friday lunchtime at Tampopo where it's famous for its ramen and kurobuta (black pork) followed by cutting cake session during tea time. She was amazing and fabulous as early in the morning she fashion paraded for us and she was quite high that day. Happy life and wellness to her.

On Fri nite, we had our regular gatherings. Even though it's not end of the month, but we still gathered as we haven't dined for about 2 months due to everyone busy schedule. Main reason being also to hang out with JT before she leaves for Beijing next week.

Well, we didn't manage to book Margarita's, thus we ended up at Pete's Place - Italian restaurant which recently had been revamped and highly recommended by one of our colleagues. I'll make sure to my gang the next stop is margarita's. I'm dying and craving for mexicans......

The place has a nice atmosphere and the dishes are quite good but still it's incomparable to the one in the states. I prefer Pasta Brava at Tanjung Pagar. Well, the restaurant manager was quite attentive. Service was consider ok compared to other places.

We ordered quite a lot of appetizer and there are free flow of breads.

Main Course - ***1/2 out of *****
Appetizer - **** out of ******
Pizza - *** out of ***** (even though it's wood grilled but i think they could be better)

I had a fusili in pesto and olive oil which were quite good and something different.

Lasagna was a bit disappointed as it's too meaty and cheesy.

Steak was quite good as well.

As usual, we chatted a lot on the what's happening and share gossips hot from oven. There are total of 6 of us in this round gathering exclude Rina. As she is happily enjoying her honeymoon in Europe. Indeed Jessica was with us ^^ After dinner, we headed to her house to continue the session and she made us this plum choya with soda water. We didn't leave until 1:30am.

By here, i wish JT all the best with the new start and gan ba de in Beijing. She will survive for sure. We'll always be here when you need us.... hehhehe.....

Caffeine Effects...

Last nite we ended up at Vivo city to meet our high school friends (which my friend called old folks as we known each others since kindergarten). After dinner, we were at Starbucks and i ordered ice Americano as usual.

At nite, i was rolling on my bed and didn't get to deep sleep till 3:30 am. Part of it was also because i was waiting for my bro as he was coming from KL and didn't reach here till 2:30am. He was stuck at checkpoint for 2 hours (it's due to the malay's new year celebration where people are traveling back and forth b/w the two countries).

Caffeine (eg. black coffee, frap, mountain dew) doesn't really have effect on me regardless on how much i drank. Usually, only to certain degrees and time i will feel coffee is useful, however i still slept well at nite regardless on the timing i consumed it.

It's weird, the body just reacted differently....

Well, to certain degree where i need caffeine is when i'm really tired and i need it to keep awake. There was once where we had stayed up for the past few nite in around thanksgiving and we drove down to Chicago. We didn't sleep once we arrived Chicago and staying up early to queue for thanksgiving sale. Thus, by the time we reached downtown to Neiman Marcus, I got myself double shot espresso. Surprisingly, it kept me alert for the whole day and i felt energetic. I was the one driving the whole day and nite for 13 hours.

Another time is after lunch time, i would grab a cup to keep me alerted when i'm really sleepy.

Generally, I am not a coffee addicted but a juice addicted. Generally, i would drink 1-2 juice per day in different flavors. Occassionally, i will drink a coffee and i would just be fine without having one in my day. Indeed, my day must start with orange juice or else i would feel sick. Once i reached office, i opted for green tea.

concert tixs

i was real in luck, in a week i received 2 pairs of concert tixs. Even though it's category 2 but i don't mind coz it's free.....

so within the coming 2 weeks, i will be attending 2 concerts:

1st concert is the one i'm dying to have it - Sammi 2007 Mi concert on 13th October.
i am very excited that finally she decided to hold on in sg initially sg is not included in her world tour. But i hope that she sings more cantonese than mandarin. heheheehe..... go Sammi, you're still the best.

2nd concert is Black Eye Peas on 22nd October
(this is a real luck as i never expected and a lot of people are dying to get a pair ckckck) my niece was very sad that she can't go coz she has a final exam the next day, poor her.
getting ready to hump......

Both concerts are at SG Indoor Stadium, i hope the sound system is fixed coz it didn't run well on the last concert i attended. quite a shame but again it's free so i didn't feel lost.

woo hoo..... can't wait for it.....

betray my principle...

A few days ago, i just blogged of not to eat so much food after so many dining out for the past few weeks. Last Wednesday, we bought a farewell lunch for our colleague who is leaving for Beijing. However, it ended only 3 of us were available that day so we ended up having lunch for 3 instead of 7. Well, we went to her fave restaurant 'Warung Lele'. Actually for the past months, we have been visiting quite a few times, i should say it's one of most authentic indonesia restaurant in SG. Somemore, it's affordable ^^. We always go there during lunch time.

Reason behind we chose the restaurant, b/c our colleague, JT afraid she won't have such a nice lunch in Beijing (You haven't heard all the things she has to gone through in Beijing plus wicked us who always scared her about the stuff in Beijing... ckckck.....)

Unlike other restaurants, Warung Lele has never failed its quality of food. It's still the best. We ordered 4 dishes, and whenever we are there, it's always ala carte instead of their set menu. The food presentation is not something that will amaze, but the taste is just delicious....

You could check out their website @ Warung Lele

My recommendation: kankung tauco, sambal kankung, cumi bakar, pecer lele, gurami goreng, lele bakar, ayam bakar santan.

MCS New TV Season Presentation

It's the time of the year again. Today, we attended an event by MCS to update us on the upcoming and 2008 programs on local terrestial channels - 5, 8, U. Finally, it's back to Swissotel.
As last year they tried to be different and hip by holding the event @ one of the pub in newly open St. James Power Station. It turned out to be a disaster with a very unorganized. I think MCS did realize it and they decided to return to their old places where people are more comfortable with it.

We were late for the event and we missed the highlight on Ch 8, well it's not because i'm dying to watch it, it is just for the sake of our job which will help us know better on the upcoming programs. There was a bit twist this year as usually Ch 8 (the most popular channel) was always at the last part, but they put it at the first part. I think maybe to ensure the agencies and clients to come on time. So we learnt our lesson ckckck....

How i wish i am attending TVB Sales Presentation instead of MCS one phew....... it's a huge gap.

Well to entice the crowds for applause, the host Adrian Pang was said, "I guess the audiences are too stunned that they even forgot to claps". ckckck.....

The highlight of the show is always comes from Patricia Mok, she is such a good and daring comedian. ^^

On the other hand, during the interim there were winners of reality singing shows performed (i think it's Project Superstar and Superband) which were the worst session of the event. Basically, i just think that i am abusing my ears. I was wondering of the quality of the show as the winners are quite bad and desperately seeking attention. If they can make it, i guess many others could make it up there.

First view of Changi Airport T3

On Aug 31st, we went for a site recce (site visit) on soon to be launch Changi Airport Terminal 3.
Even though it will inaugurate on Jan 09th, the only confirmed airline is long haul SIA flights (above 6 hours). Hooray, finally the new terminal is not restricted to only SQ.

However, 3 months countdown, the airlines have not yet finalized on their shifting due to the complicated logistics and blah blah blah. But several airlines have indicated their interest such as Qatar, Korean Air, British Airways, shoot i couldn't remember anyway it's ok ckckck.....

Well the new sites was built environmental friendly by using the solar lighting system and the best part is the overview of departure hall to the baggage pick up area. The part i like the most is their baggage picking area which is in a very soothing mood. Well, it's not because it has palm tree as i have seen palm tree in other int'l airports such as Orlando.

Overall, the airport was just normal, there is nothing extremely nice it's just similar to the T1, T2. My disappointment is the restrooms, as they are still unimproved, still wet and the hygiene was not a concern yet. How could you have an int'l standard airport but you don't have a cover seat?

Also, i don't really like the color of the seats in the waiting areas, it is just too blend and got this Malay look color.

Well, one of the fun parts is we got to travel around and stepped into unfinished PPS lounge and get to see the dock for A380.....

T3 is actually connected to T1 in foot distance as well as the skytrain. Due to the long terminal, there is actually skytrain ride to transfer to boarding gate as well.

This is an amazing sign where you can find on the chair. SG has never fail its personality. Known as fine city, they will remember to put this sign that if you ever sit, sleep, or jump on the chair, you'll be fined of $1,000. Please note the airport is not yet launched, maybe it's warning for us who go for site visit and the construction workers hehehee....

You could check out T3 site recce to visualize the new terminal.

At least the government will call it as T3 instead of the other terminal where it's named budget terminal hahahaha....

K-box on Friday

Last nite after got off from work at 9+, my colleagues asked me to join them at Karaoke at Marina Square as they were having so much fun there. At first, i was a bit reluctant but i finally went there where they had started for a few hours and enjoy the buffet.

I didn't get to eat as the buffet had closed so my stomach was filled up with the white wines... ckckck.....

This was only my 3rd or 4th time to Karaoke as i didn't get to go as much. Probably all my friends around me listen to different tunes and in sg, there ain't much choices of canto pop. Well,
i prefer Party World over K-box as they have more selection of songs with better quality.

Indeed, the amazing thing is i don't know that the karaoke nowadays are so high tech, it's all computerized. When i stepped in, i felt myself dumbfounded with the machine... ckckck....

I didn't get to sing as the place doesn't have a lot of canto songs but i did enjoy the session and they all sing hip hop, rock, rap songs which is quite fun and the songs varied in mandarin, canto, english, and even hokkien.

I think the purpose of going K is not to show how well you do, but to relax and to craze around. A few of them are very good at it with their expressions and dance which brought sparks to the session.

Some of the songs we picked was to target of one of our colleagues who is soon leaving for Beijing and we try to sing the song to chase her out, or tell her how much we miss her, and etc. It was just fun. I did had a good time. ^^ Thanks.

Turf Club

Last Friday nite, there was a media event by SPH held on Singapore Turf Club. My colleagues we actually went as I have never been there so it was an exploration.

The turf club is located at West side of Singapore close to Johor Bahru, M'sia. Well, it took us an hour and half to reach the place. It sounded a bit exaggerate as how big is Singapore. Our taxi supposed arrived in 7 min, we waited him for 25 min (Fri nite jam in CBD). After all, we asked the driver for the fastest way to reach there and to avoid jam on the highway. However, the taxi driver indeed was very smart took the longest way that by the time we reached, we missed 2 races out of 10.

My other colleagues had actually started to bet with win and loses..... ^.^

The club was quite huge but it was a dissapointed to me as it turn out not to be as glamorous as i expected. Indeed, it was still quite an experience.

As we were in the VIP room, thus we get to see the overview quite clear instead of squeezing down there with desperate sweaty uncles in an open air.

The horses were quite amazing but they're all skinny type. Surprisingly, the seemed to be drank horses, which we think will not make it to the race ended winning most of the races ckckck.... This prove that when you are betting sixth sense itself is not good enough.

There was a few tips given by the columnist for us to bet. What they have predicted did win the race but the return investment was not high. So, people are trying to be risky and lose more. I did not bet so I neither lose or win.

Now I can proudly say that i have been to the turf club located at Kranji hehehe....
